1 Storage & Logistics
A majority of tile manufacturers in India store tiles loosely on site. The storage of loose tiles led to breakage and damage which further led to higher quantity of tiles being ordered and thereby a higher amount of wastage of funds as well as products. NITCO realized this and wished to bring about a change. The total amount of wastage resulted in approximately 6% of total project tile value. NITCO rectified this by using wooden boxes to store tiles rather than loosely strapping them on site. This change reduced the damage and brought down the wastage to a mere 0.95%

However, physical handling of inlay by multiple masons, can lead to uneven outputs, or uneven quality of finish and to top it all, it was time and labour intensive.
